| Description: | "Organized January 13, 1884, in the chapel of Mt. St. Mary's Seminary. Corner-stone of the new church, at the south-east corner of Price and Hawthorne avenues, was laid on Mya 11th of the same year; three and half months later, August 24th, witnessed the dedication of the new church under the patronage of the Holy Family. To suit the requirements of the parish in its humble beginnings, the present structure was built to serve as a temporary church and schoo, at a cost of $12,000. It is 72 feet logn and 42 feet wide, built iof brick and freestone trimmings and an open timber roof, and has a seating capacity of 140. The congreation has a membership of 160 families." | |
