| Description: | "This parish dates is beginning to January 2, 1860. Four acres of land were purchased on Budd street for $25,000. A portion of this was laid out in lots and disposed of. In july, 1860 a three-story building was begun, with plans for a chapel in the first story, parsonage in the second and school in the third. The structure was decicated September 20th of the same year. The corner-stone for the present new church was laid December 8, 1861. The dedication took place June 14, 1863. The edifice is 78 x 165, with a steeple 172 feet high. ...The congregation numbers 600 families." | |
